In a continued tradition, once again this holiday season the '08 Tier 2 Compuware Youth Hockey team participated in their own Holiday Gift & Food Drive to benefit families at First Step.
Starting in mid-November until December 21st, the players and families collected over 200 new unwrapped toys, books, clothes, blankets and even financial gifts for children and families that are benefiting from the First Step organization. In addition, the team also collected over 30 pounds of food donations to give those in need this holiday season.
This is part of the team's continued development of CHAMPS, teaching our players the importance of life skills while becoming better people as well as hockey players.
The team was proud to be offering another option for those that will greatly benefit from the generosity. Our entire hockey family and our young players especially simply asked, challenged and invited all that may be encouraged to join us this holiday season to help others in need in and around our local communities.
As the team staff continues to teach the players on their team the importance of service it is also a great reminder to all of us of our obligation of service to others, a grateful heart, and appreciation of humility will always persevere. The team thanks each and every person that donated to this great cause and made the drive a great and rewarding experience!
