John began playing hockey at the age of three and grew up in a hockey family with both parents heavily involved with youth hockey administration and coaching. He was a member of the Lakeland Hawks travel teams for seven seasons before heading to Milford High School where he played at the varsity level for all four of his years in high school. John was recognized as a team captain as well as being named All-State, All-Conference and All-County during his High School career. He went on to play for the CSHL Metro Jets. He returned to Milford High School as an Assistant Coach where he remained for the next three seasons. John has worked at a number of hockey schools as an instructor and was also a registered Official (referee) for several seasons.  John is a certified Level 4 USA Hockey coach. This is John’s fifth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.


12U PeeWee AA 2010 Lee Swallow

Lee grew up playing in the Compuware AAA program and went on to play Junior A hockey in the OJHL for the Milton Merchants and the St. Michael's Buzzers. After his junior career, he played NCAA D3 hockey for the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he enjoyed a successful four year career. A current USA hockey Level 3 certified USA Hockey Coach he brings a passion for teaching the game of hockey with a focus on skill development and skating.  This is Coach Swallow's third year with Compuware.


11U PeeWee A 2011 Gordie Lietz

Gordie has over 20 years of coaching experience: Squirt AA through Midget AA and Tier 1 PeeWee.   Coach Lietz played in the North American Hockey League.  He has strong connections to the Michigan Hockey community.  Gordie works to develop kid’s passion for the game and will focus primarily on increasing player skill.  Gordie is non-parental and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.  This will be Coach Lietz's ninth year with Compuware.

Jason is originally from Redford, Michigan and began his hockey career at the age of five. He continued playing throughout his childhood on various travel teams in different communities before ending up as a goalie at Catholic Central in Redford, MI, where he was a member of the 1994 State Championship team. Following a successful high school hockey career, Jason continued playing at the University of Michigan-Dearborn while he worked to receive his degree in Psychology. During his collegiate career, he was selected as an All-Star twice, named team MVP his senior season and was a finalist for the Bob Johnson Award which is given to the best collegiate athlete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
Following his playing days, Jason went on to be an Assistant Coach with the Junior B Wayne Wheels and the Motor City Chiefs. After that, he went on to be an instructor with Suburban Hockey Schools and several years later, was named Head Coach of the 2007 Michigan Lakers where he focused on providing an environment where young hockey players could develop their skills at a more competitive level to become even better hockey players. Jason continued coaching at the 2007 where his team was ranked as high as  #3 in the nation at the tier two level. Jason Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.


9U Squirt A Orange 2013 Mike Henry

Mike is an Ann Arbor Native. He grew up playing hockey in the Ann Arbor Hockey Association. He played AAA hockey for two years in Pee Wees, attended Culver Military Academy for a year, and then returned to Ann Arbor to play for the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats. After high school he attend Kent State University and played ACHA Division 1 club hockey.

Mike graduated Kent State with a degree in Sports Management. Upon graduation, he started working for Compuware Arena and the Plymouth Whalers, where he was part of the 2007 Ontario Hockey League Championship. In 2012, he was named the Director of the Compuware Youth Hockey program whereas Director he has been part of 2 National Championships and 16 State Championships.
Throughout his career, he has been a head and assistant coach at many different levels from Learn to Play to Compuware Midget Majors. He has coached several camps and clinics through the years including Mid-Am development camps in the summer.
Mike focuses on skill development, while working on team play. Teams have a simple philosophy of work hard, support your teammates and have fun. Mike is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.

Brian brings decades of playing experience to help teach and develop hockey players. After spending several years playing travel hockey in the area, Brian played three seasons of varsity hockey at Livonia Stevenson, where he served as captain during his junior and senior years.  Brian believes in promoting a fun, supportive environment that focuses on skill development and an understanding of the game. Brian is a Level 1 certified USA Hockey Coach.
