Midget Major Head Coach Lou Melone
Lou is a non-parental Level 5 certified USA Hockey Coach. Lou played his youth career with Compuware. In 1986 he was drafted 1st pick overall in the NAHL for Compuware. In 1988-92 he played for Northern Michigan University’s (NMU) Division I Hockey team. In 1991, his NMU team won the NCAA Division I Championships and Lou was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. In 1994 Lou Coached the University of Michigan’s Club Hockey team. In 2014, Lou was named Associate Coach for the South African Men’s National Hockey Team for the IIHF World Championships in Jaca, Spain and an Associate Coach in 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa. In the 2019-20 season, his team was the HPHL regular season and playoff champions. This is Lou’s fifth season coaching at Compuware Youth Hockey; one year at 16U and four with the midget majors.
Midget Minor 16 Only ‘05 Head Coach Danny Veri
Danny is a non-parental head coach and has been coaching at the youth level for over 20 years. Many of those years have been with multiple teams in one year. Being a business owner and father of four, time management is critical to the success of his teams. Trust, Respect, Effort, Accountability, Discipline, and Structure (TREADS) is the foundation of all of his teams. It is evident in their results:

Danny never loses site of what is most important, the development of each hockey player. Video and off ice conditioning are integral parts of the success of his programs. A high practice to game ratio and being a true student of the game helps his players develop to their potential. He is always learning from the best at all levels and bringing what he learns to his teams. He has had players from both of his boys’ and girls’ teams move on to junior teams and receive Division 1 scholarships. Danny is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Danny’s fifth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.
Midget Minor 15 Only '06 Head Coach Pat Peake
Pat is a non-parental Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. Pat grew up in Rochester Michigan and played for Compuware Youth Hockey; and in the NAHL and the OHL for the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors/Detroit Jr. Red Wings. Pat was the first American drafted 1st overall in the OHL. He was the Washington Capitols first round selection in the 1991 NHL entry draft at 18 where he played until injuries shortened his career. Pat has over 15 years of head coaching experience at the AAA level. This is Pat’s fifth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.

Pat has coached four National Championship teams. He continues to work with NHL players he coached in minor hockey.
Bantam Major ’07 Head Coach Greg Stefan
Greg is non-parental head coach who grew up in Brantford Ontario. Greg played goal for the Oshawa Generals (OMJHL), the Adirondack Red Wings, and the Detroit Red Wings. Stefan began his coaching career with the Detroit Jr Red Wings of the OHL which later became the Plymouth Whalers where he was head coach for two seasons. Greg was with the NHL Carolina Hurricane organization as a scout, goalie coach, and assistant coach. In 2006, Stefan won the Stanley Cup as goalie coach/scout with the Carolina Hurricanes. Greg is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Greg’s fifth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.
Bantam Minor '08 Head Coach Paul Fassbender
Paul grew up in Marquette Mi playing hockey since the age of three. Paul played AAA for the first ever Midget Major team in Marquette, and then joined the Marquette Redmen High School team. After graduation Paul joined the United States Marine Corps. After his four years in the Marine Corps, Paul enrolled at Eastern Michigan University where he played four years of club hockey and then turned to coaching. Coach Fassbender spent three years as an assistant at EMU before becoming the Head Coach. After five years as the Eagles head coach he stepped down at the end of the 2005 season. Paul returned to doing 12 seasons as a High School Head Coach with his last stop at Saline High School. He has also been an assistant coach for the Compuware Midget Major team. Paul is a non-parental Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach and brings a hard work dedicated mentality to the Compuware program. His goal is to help the development of these young athlete to become better hockey players and represent Compuware with respect and dignity. This will be Coach Fassbender’s second year with Compuware Youth Hockey.
PeeWee Major '09 Head Coach Andrew Weidenbach Jr
Andy grew up playing hockey in the Compuware Youth Hockey program and then moved on to playing for the Compuware Tier II Junior team in the NAJHL. From 1990-95, Andy played college at Yale University for USA Hall of Fame coach Tim Taylor where he set a school record for short-handed goals in both a season and career. Post college, Andy played a couple of years of professional hockey - a stint that included time playing in Sweden as well as a season playing for the legendary John Brophy. Following his playing career, Andy coached hockey at Cranbrook Schools with his father, a High School Hall of Fame coach. From 2005-2013, Andy served as an assistant coach on the Cranbrook Boys’ Varsity team winning five State championships and having several players go on to play in college, minor pro, and a few to the NHL. For more than 25 years, Andy spent his summers instructing hockey at various camps. Andy is a Level 3 certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Andy’s seventh season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.

PeeWee Minor ’10 Head Coach Kenny Brandt
Kenny is a non-parental head coach having played youth hockey with the Michigan Nationals and Little Caesars before coming to Compuware for five seasons (Bantam Minor through Midget Major). Kenny played junior hockey with the Valley Jr Warriors (EJHL), Alpena Diggers (NAHL), and the Ohio Blue Jackets (USHL). Kenny’s focus is on skill development. Kenny is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. Kenny is entering his eighth season as a Compuware Tier 1 head coach.
Squirt Major ’11 Head Coach Chad LaRose
Chad is a non-parental Level 1 certified USA Hockey Coach and has been coaching youth hockey for four years. His teams have won two state championships. Coach LaRose is an ex Compuware player playing at Compuware since he was 12 and then moving to the Plymouth Whalers in Juniors. He went on to have 12 years with the NHL Carolina Hurricanes playing in over 500 games and winning the Stanley Cup in 2006.
