Midget Major Head Coach: Lou Melone
Lou is a non-parental Level 5 certified USA Hockey Coach. Lou played his youth career with Compuware. In 1986 he was drafted 1st pick overall in the NAHL for Compuware. In 1988-92 he played for Northern Michigan University’s (NMU) Division I Hockey team. In 1991, his NMU team won the NCAA Division I Championships and Lou was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. In 1994 Lou Coached the University of Michigan’s Club Hockey team. In 2014, Lou was named Associate Coach for the South African Men’s National Hockey Team for the IIHF World Championships in Jaca, Spain and an Associate Coach in 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa. Lou coached the 2017-18 Compuware Midget Minors and the 2018-19 Midget Majors. This is Lou’s third season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.
Midget Minor (16 Only) Head Coach: Brian Savage
Brian is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach that has now been involved in coaching youth hockey for 13 years at various AAA levels. A former NHL player, Brian was drafted to the Montreal Canadiens in the 1991 entry draft. He went on to play 12 years in the NHL for Montreal, Phoenix, St. Louis and Philadelphia. He was a member of the the 1994 Canadian Olympic team that won a silver medal in Lillehammer, Norway. Brian has been an assistant coach at Compuware Youth Hockey for the midget minor, bantam major, squirt major and pee wee minor teams. This is Brian's third season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey. His teams have are: 2019 Silver Sticks Champion, 2019 16U HPHL Champion, 2018 14U Tier 1 National Champion, and 2018 14U HPHL Champion.
Assistant Coach Ryan Barnes: Ryan is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach, that has now been involved in coaching for eleven years at various levels. Ryan was an Assistant Coach with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. Ryan’s teams have won two consecutive Tier 1 State Title Championships, as well as were crowned Champions of the prestigious Quebec PeeWee International Tournament in 2016. Ryan was also the Head Coach of the 2016 Detroit Junior Red Wings Brick team. A Detroit Red Wing Alumni, Ryan was a 2nd round choice of the Wings in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft playing with the club in 2003-04. During a seven year professional career Ryan had stops in Cincinnati (AHL) where he spent two seasons playing under coach Mike Babcock as well as three seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) playing under current Michigan State Spartans Head Coach Danton Cole. Ryan coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Bantam Majors. This is Ryan’s third season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.

15 Only '03 Head Coach: Greg Stefan
Greg is non-parental head coach who grew up in Brantford Ontario. Greg played goal for the Oshawa Generals (OMJHL), the Adirondack Red Wings, and the Detroit Red Wings. Stefan began his coaching career with the Detroit Jr Red Wings of the OHL which later became the Plymouth Whalers where he was head coach for two seasons. Greg was with the NHL Carolina Hurricane organization as a scout, goalie coach, and assistant coach. In 2006, Stefan won the Stanley Cup as Goalie Coach/Scout with the Carolina Hurricanes. Greg is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Greg’s third season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.
Bantam Major ’05 Head Coach: Danny Veri
Danny is a non-parental head coach and has been coaching at the youth level for over 20 years. Many of those years have been with multiple teams in one year. Being a business owner and father of four, time management is critical to the success of his teams. Trust, Respect, Effort, Accountability, Discipline, and Structure (TREADS) is the foundation of all of his teams. It is evident in their results:

Danny never loses site of what is most important, the development of each hockey player. Video and off ice conditioning are integral parts of the success of his programs. A high practice to game ratio and being a true student of the game helps his players develop to their potential. He is always learning from the best at all levels and bringing what he learns to his teams. He has had players from both of his boys’ and girls’ teams move on to junior teams and receive Division 1 scholarships. Danny is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. Bantam Minor ‘06 Head Coach: Pat Peake
Pat is a non-parental Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. Pat grew up in Rochester Michigan and played for Compuware Youth Hockey; and in the NAHL and the OHL for the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors/Detroit Jr. Red Wings. He was the Washington Capitols first round selection in the 1991 NHL entry draft at 18 where he played until injuries shortened his career. Pat has 15 years of head coaching experience at the AAA level. Pat coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Midget Majors. This is Pat’s third season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.

PeeWee Major '07 Head Coach: Kenny Brandt
Kenny is a non-parental head coach having played youth hockey with the Michigan Nationals and Little Caesars before coming to Compuware for five seasons (Bantam Minor through Midget Major). Kenny played junior hockey with the Valley Jr Warriors (EJHL), Alpena Diggers (NAHL), and the Ohio Blue Jackets (USHL). Kenny’ focus is on skill development. Kenny is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. Kenny is entering his sixth season as a Compuware Tier 1 head coach. Last season, Kenny was also an assistant on the 14U Tier 1 team coached by Pat Peake.
PeeWee Minor '08 Head Coach: Gordie Lietz
Gordie has over 25 years of coaching experience: Squirt AA through Midget AA. Coach Lietz played in the North American Hockey League. He has strong connections to the Michigan Hockey community. Gordie works to develop kid’s passion for the game and will focus primarily on increasing player skill. Gordie is non-parental and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Gordie’s sixth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.

Squirt Major '09 Head Coach Andrew Weidenbach Jr
Andy Jr played his youth hockey with Compuware Youth Hockey and went on to play college at Yale University followed by a couple of years of professional hockey. Following his playing career, Andy Jr coached hockey in various positions at Cranbrook Schools. From 2005-2013, Andy Jr served as an assistant coach on Cranbrook's Boys’ Varsity team winning five State championships and having several players go on to play in college, minor pro, and the NHL. For more than 25 years, Andy Jr has spent his summers instructing hockey at both his own and others hockey camps. Andy Jr is a certified USA Hockey Coach. This is Andy’s fifth season coaching with Compuware Youth Hockey.
