Midget Major Head Coach: Lou Melone

Lou is a Level 5 certified USA Hockey Coach.  Lou played his youth career with Compuware. In 1986 he was drafted 1st pick overall in the NAHL for Compuware. In 1988-92 he played for Northern Michigan University’s (NMU) Division I Hockey team.  In 1991, his NMU team won the NCAA Division I Championships and Lou was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.  In 1994 Lou Coached the University of Michigan’s Club Hockey team.  He coached the 01’ age division for the nine years. In 2014, Lou was named Associate Coach for the South African Men’s National Hockey Team for the IIHF World Championships in Jaca, Spain and an Associate Coach in 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.  Lou coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Midget Minors.

Midget Minor Head Coach: Ryan Barnes

Ryan is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach, that has now been involved in coaching for 10 years at various levels. Ryan was an Assistant Coach with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. Ryan’s teams have won two consecutive Tier 1 State Title Championships, as well as were crowned Champions of the prestigious Quebec PeeWee International Tournament in 2016. Ryan was also the Head Coach of the 2016 Detroit Junior Red Wings Brick team. A Detroit Red Wing Alumni, Ryan was a 2nd round choice of the Wings in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft playing with club in 2003-04. During a 7 year professional career Ryan had stops in Cincinnati (AHL) where he spent 2 seasons playing under coach Mike Babcock as well as 3 seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) playing under current Michigan State Spartans Head Coach Danton Cole. Ryan currently works with DHG Hockey Agency based out of Toronto, Ont. representing many NHL players including rising stars Mitchell Marner, Andreas Athanasiou and Josh Anderson to name a few. Ryan coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Bantam Majors. 

15 Only '03 Head Coach: Greg Stefan

Greg is non-parental head coach who grew up in Brantford Ontario.  Greg played goal for the Oshawa Generals (OMJHL), the Adirondack Red Wings, and the Detroit Red Wings.  Stefan began his coaching career with the Detroit Jr Red Wings of the OHL which later became the Plymouth Whalers where he was head coach for two seasons.  Greg was with the NHL Carolina Hurricane organization as a scout, goalie coach, and assistant coach. Greg coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey 15 Only team.

Bantam Major ‘04 Head Coach: Pat Peake

Pat is a non-parental Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.  Pat grew up in Rochester Michigan and played for Compuware Youth Hockey; and in the NAHL and the OHL for the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors/Detroit Jr. Red Wings.  He was the Washington Capitols first round selection in the 1991 NHL entry draft at 18 where he played until injuries shortened his career.  Pat has 14 years of head coaching experience at the AAA level.  Pat coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Midget Majors.

Bantam Minor ’05 Head Coach: Danny Veri

Danny has been coaching at the youth level for over 20 years. Many of those years have been with multiple teams in one year. Being a business owner and father of four, time management is critical to the success of his teams. Trust, Respect, Effort, Accountability, Discipline, and Structure (TREADS) is the foundation of all of his teams. It is evident in their results:

Danny never loses site of what is most important, the development of each hockey player. Video and off ice conditioning are integral parts of the success of his programs. A high practice to game ratio and being a true student of the game helps his players develop to their potential. He is always learning from the best at all levels and bringing what he learns to his teams. He has had players from both of his boys’ and girls’ teams move on to junior teams and receive Division 1 scholarships. Danny is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach

PeeWee Major '06 Head Coach: Tim Osburn

Tim has been playing and learning the game for over 40 years.  Tim played four years of college hockey at U of M Dearborn (1986-1990).  After college, Tim went over to Sweden and played for Sunne IK for a year.  Tim has fourteen years coaching experience and holds is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.  Tim coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey PeeWee Minors.

PeeWee Minor '07 Head Coach: Kenny Brandt

Kenny is a non-parental head coach having played youth hockey with the Michigan Nationals and Little Caesars before coming to Compuware for five seasons (Bantam Minor through Midget Major).  Kenny played junior hockey with the Valley Jr Warriors (EJHL), Alpena Diggers (NAHL), and the Ohio Blue Jackets (USHL).  Kenny is the owner of Skilled Advantage Hockey Training.  Kenny is a Level 3 certified USA Hockey Coach.  Kenny has a long lineage of coaching AAA hockey.  Kenny coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth hockey Squirt Majors.

Squirt Major ’08 Head Coach: Brett Stephens

Brett has been involved in the hockey world for the last thirty years at every level of the game.  Growing up, he played travel hockey locally, also playing in multiple Junior leagues, as well as in college for Western Michigan University.  He then played Minor professional finishing up in the United Hockey League for the Motor City Mechanics.  After his playing experiences, he made the transition into coaching and has coached current and active NHL players, as well as others who are drafted and are awaiting their opportunity in 14 years coaching.  Coach Brett has coached for Honeybaked 91’ and 97’ AAA; and Belle Tire 96’ and 01’ AAA winning a State Championship with the 01’s during the 2012-2013 season.  Coach Brett has also coached local high school hockey at Milford High School and Howell High School.  His more recent focus has been of the application of the American Development model where he has coordinated and run all of the early development focuses of Learn to Play, mini mites, and mites for six years. Brett is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach.  Brett coached the 2017-2018 Compuware Youth Hockey Squirt Minors.
