14U 2010 Mike Callan

Mike has been coaching for over 20 years and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey Coach. He has coached 12U through 18U, including both Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams. Mike and his staff bring passion and commitment to every team they are a part of. Individual development, team chemistry and love for the sport are principals that drive the staff. Many of the skills are brought to the ice by Mike's Associate Coaches: Aaron Callan, Aaron Roschinsky and Zach Vojcek. The non-parental staff has extensive playing experience from travel, AAA, High School, Juniors, and NCAA D-III. The staff brings three Level 4 certified USA Hockey coaches to the bench and is excited to be heading into their 5th year together.


13U 2011 Gordie Lietz

Gordie has over 30 years of coaching experience: 6U/8U, Squirt AA through Midget AA and Tier 1 PeeWee. Coach Lietz played in the North American Hockey League. He has strong connections to the Michigan Hockey community. Gordie works to develop kid’s passion for the game and will focus primarily on increasing player skill. Gordie is non-parental and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach. This will be Coach Lietz's eleventh year with Compuware.


12U 2012 Darren Brown

Darren grew up playing travel hockey in Lansing from Squirt AA through Midget A and played 18U AAA before enrolling in college. In the summers after his Junior and Senior years, he worked weekly as a skills coach at a summer hockey camp in Lansing. He played two seasons of ACHA Division III club hockey, where he was a league all star and academic all-American, before transferring to Michigan State where he won a league championship and went to Nationals as a member of their Division II Club team. Darren has eight years of coaching experience and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach. Darren enjoys coaching and developing players who have drive and a passion for the game. His goal is to always challenge his players to improve their game, be good teammates, and help them all grow as people into leaders. This is Darren’s second year at Compuware.


11U 2013 Mike Henry

Mike is an Ann Arbor native. He grew up playing hockey in the Ann Arbor Hockey Association. He played AAA hockey for two years in Pee Wees, attended Culver Military Academy for a year, and then returned to Ann Arbor to play for the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats. After high school he attend Kent State University and played ACHA Division 1 club hockey. Mike graduated Kent State with a degree in Sports Management. Upon graduation, he started working for Compuware Arena and the Plymouth Whalers, where he was part of the 2007 Ontario Hockey League Championship. In 2012, he was named the Director of the Compuware Youth Hockey program whereas Director he has been part of 2 National Championships and 16 State Championships. Throughout his career, he has been a head and assistant coach at many different levels from Learn to Play to Compuware Midget Majors. He has coached several camps and clinics through the years including Mid-Am development camps in the summer. Mike focuses on skill development, while working on team play. Teams have a simple philosophy of work hard, support your teammates and have fun. Mike is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach. 


10U 2014 Brian Shekell

Brian brings decades of playing experience to help teach and develop hockey players. After spending several years playing travel hockey in the area, Brian played three seasons of varsity hockey at Livonia Stevenson, where he served as captain during his junior and senior years. Brian takes an individualized approach to helping players maximize their skill development and overall understanding of the game. Brian is a Level 3 certified USA Hockey coach. This is Brian's third season with Compuware.


9U Brown 2015 Kevin Morin

Kevin is originally from Houghton, MI and grew up playing hockey in the CCJHA and Houghton. After graduating high school, he attended Saginaw Valley State University and then graduate school at Michigan State University where he studied Kinesiology and Athletic Training. He worked and had internships in Division I, Division II and professional football, along with continuing to stay involved in athletics around high performing athletes. 
He has attained a Level 2 USA Hockey Certification, Bronze Goalie USA Hockey Coaching Certification as well as coaching in various local clubs/associations for four past years. His focus is on developing well rounded athletes, encourages multiple sport participation at young ages, and has a development based approach to coaching. This is Kevin’s first year with Compuware.


9U Orange 2015 Nick Bell

Nick is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach with eight years of experience as a coach. Nick grew up in Onsted, MI and played Tier 2 youth hockey. While playing youth hockey Nick played for the Jackson Jaguars and was a part of a team with many accomplishments including 6 - District Championships, 1 - MAHA State Championship Runner-up and 1 - MAHA State Championship. Nick went on to play Juniors in the CSHL for two seasons with the Toledo Cherokee. After graduation Nick enlisted into the United States Army and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) as well as Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). After serving in the military Nick returned to coaching hockey. Nick is in his fourth year with the Compuware program. Nick brings a passion for teaching the game of hockey with a focus on skill development, understanding the game, work ethic, being a good teammate and having fun. Nick's goal is to develop and support all players in a competitive environment for future success. 


8U 2016 Chris Brewer

Chris started his hockey career in Lansing and played from Atoms through Mite AA for the Lansing Capitals before moving to Hartland and playing for Ann Arbor until Bantam A. Chris transitioned to high school hockey where he played four years varsity hockey for Hartland High School where he earned several academic and athletic accolades. After high school, Chris pursued his passion for engineering at Lawrence Technological University where he played four years for their ACHA Division III hockey team. During his college stint, he was a three time Academic All American. Chris has five years coaching experience and is a Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach. Chris’s goal is to create a fun, energetic and challenging learning environment that teaches foundational skills and strategies to develop young hockey players. This is Chris’s second year at Compuware Youth Hockey.


7U 2017 Schuyler Ferguson

Schuyler played travel hockey in the Flint, Michigan area for several years before moving on to Tier 1 hockey in metro Detroit in bantams. He then played three seasons in the NA3HL with the Motor City Chiefs and Michigan Mountain Cats, and two seasons with the University of Michigan-Flint's ACHA Division III team. In his first season at UM-Flint, the team made the national tournament for the first time in program history and finished as national runners-up. Schuyler is in his fourth year of coaching and is a Level 1 certified USA Hockey coach. This is his third season with Compuware.
